Therapy with Horses

The horse is a mirror to your soul. Sometimes you might not like what you see. Sometimes you will.

Why HorsesHow it works
THERAPY WITH HORSES

“Horses are masters at reading the most subtle non-verbal cues”

Horses can sense the feelings in us which we may not be conscious of and they reflect these feelings back to us through their body language. Facilitated interactions with horses can offer unique opportunities for self-awareness and a greater understanding of our emotions, as well as how our behaviour impacts our lives and our relationships.

Horses are highly intuitive and can also help us to gain clarity when we are seeking solutions to specific problems.

“I have honestly never felt quite so at one with myself”

“It made me a lot more aware of how my behaviour can affect others”

“A profound form of healing that may even occur days or weeks after the session”

The Process

Ground-based, therapeutic interactions with horses can help us to gain powerful insights into personal challenges and support our transformation towards a more authentic way of being.

As a Counsellor and Equine Guided Learning Practitioner, I facilitate sessions between people and horses that are free to roam and display their natural behaviour.

The interactions and activities that take place can support individuals to build emotional resilience and deal with a range of problems related to:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Self-confidence
  • Assertiveness
  • Destructive patterns of behaviour
  • Relationships
  • Problem-solving
  • Trauma

Sessions take place outdoors in most weather conditions, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Monmouthshire. No previous experience of horses is required and no ridden work is undertaken.
