Join our exciting series of Equine Assisted Learning courses designed to help young people gain valuable life skills in a fun, supportive environment.This is suitable for young people between the ages of 12-15 years. No experience of horses is required. There is no riding – ground work only.

Sessions start at 10:30 on Thursday 23 July and run weekly up to Thursday 27 August.  We will be working with a lovely herd of Welsh ponies at the Royal Agricultural College, Fosse Hill Farm, Coates, Cirencester, GL7 6NX. Children can gain maximum benefit from attending all 6 sessions, but you can also book individual sessions. Places are limited, so don’t delay!

The programme will cover the following topics:

  • Thursday 23 July, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 1: Self-regulation – Understanding emotions and learning some coping tools to self-regulate
  • Thursday 30 July, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 2: Healthy boundaries – Setting and respecting boundaries for healthy relationships
  • Thursday 6 August, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 3: Self-awareness – Experimenting with how others respond to us and exploring alternative ways of being
  • Thursday 13 August, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 4: Creative problem-solving – Understanding how outlook and intention can affect outcomes. Working with the ponies to explore how to overcome challenges.
  • Thursday 20 August, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 5: Team work – Sharing abilities and recognising strengths for the benefit of everyone
  • Thursday 27 August, 10:30 – 11:30: Session 6: Leadership – Gentle assertiveness based on feedback and mutual respect for positive outcomes.
